Savannah Bar Guide Itinerary

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts about traveling is finding new bars to try. I LOVE finding pretty spots that serve fancy cocktails and I nearly fell out of my chair with excitement when I realized Savannah has an open container district. Drinking on the go? Count me IN.

Savannah has well over 100 bars AND they house the only Prohibition museum in America. OH, the irony. That’s a whole lot of bars, so I narrowed it down to my top five favorites and created a little bar guide for you! Route and map are at the bottom of the page.

Most importantly, all of these bars have at least four stars on Yelp and most of them are coming in at 4.5 stars.

The Fitzroy

You are going to love The Fitzroy and how refined it is with their marble tabletops, beautiful hard wood floors, exposed brick adding a light vintage vibe, a touch of modern decor, and teal booths. The Fitzroy was one of my favorite spots in Savannah because would ya look at it?!

I would highly recommend making a stop here. I had an espresso martini with whipped cream – cocktail #1 worth dying for.

Sadly, they don’t showcase their cocktail menu online, but I wanted to share their food menu with you because it looks just as enticing. I really could have went to town on some of their seafood fettuccine.

On a sunny day, the upstairs would be perfect with their open air seating area. I loved the seafoam green chairs and all the plants surrounding the perimeter. Yes, you’re going to want your photo taken here.

On another note… I had the ABSOLUTE best fries of my life while we were at The Fritzroy. Check back in for my restaurant guide (coming soon) to see why!

Peregrin Rooftop

Hands down, the Peregrin roof top bar was my all time favorite spot that we visited in Savannah. Peregrin is located on top of the luxurious Perry Lane Hotel and it’s the only rooftop bar in Savannah that offers a view of the city.

I swear you are going to love this bar – not only for the view, but they have a vibrant tropical mural, a decent amount of plant life (I love plants if you haven’t picked up on it yet), a fun green space to play games, and frozen rosé – consider me SOLD! You can view their cocktail/wine menu here!

I was surprised to find that the Peregrin is the only rooftop bar in Savannah that offers a VIEW. I told the bartender how thankful I was to find a true rooftop bar.

Fun fact – the bartender told me they were deciding on if they wanted to open in Savannah or Charleston and ended up picking Savannah so they could be first rooftop bar here!

To get to the rooftop – go through the Perry Lane Hotel lobby doors, turn right (away from their restaurant) and through the hall with the elevators.

peregrinYou are going to be overwhelmed with temptation to stay in the Perry Lane Hotel as soon as you step foot in the lobby – the decor is stunning and it smells so fantastically clean and fresh.

I already decided I’ll be making a trip back to Savannah solely to stay at the Perry Lane Hotel (and to get access to their rooftop pool). I guess I should have mentioned they have a rooftop pool, but it’s for guests only. #VIP.

Peregrin address: 256 E Perry St, Savannah, GA 31401

The Grey

What I loved most about The Grey was the look and feel of it, especially the history behind it – what once was a 1938 greyhound bus terminal has been transformed into a hip restaurant with a retro modern twist to it.

If you’re interested in the history and the design of The Grey – you should watch this quick video interviewing the designers. They breakdown what once was the shower area, the waiting area, the ticket station, and what is in their place now in the restaurant. So cool!

The Grey’s cocktail menu can be found here.

Notice the cute paper straw?! Most bars we went to served with paper straws 🙂

While we didn’t get a chance to order meals, we sucked down our fancy cocktails and enjoyed some of their homemade bread. Something that caught my eye on the menu was their menu categories:

  • water (seafood)
  • dirt (vegetables/potatoes)
  • pasture (meat)

I’ve never seen a menu categorized this way and love it! See what I mean here.

A+ bartender for The Grey.

The Grey address: 109 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Savannah, GA 31401

Prohibition

Guess what? Prohibition is next door to The Grey, so you don’t have to make it far at all before you are enjoying their awesome $5.00 happy hour (every freaking day from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.)!!

3 oysters for $3.00, a bowl of crispy brussels sprouts doused in chili-lime sauce for $5.00 and cocktails for $5.00. I know, I know, I know – it sounds too good to be true, but believe me.

The Pimms Cup is cocktail #2 to die for (Pimms, cucumber, lemon, mint, and ginger). It’s so refreshing that I had to have two…. with all the walking you’re going to be doing from bar hopping, you need to feel refreshed. Amirite?!

Prohibition’s happy hour menu can be found here.

Prohibition is a pretty popular bar in Charleston that luckily made it’s way to Savannah. The Savannah location is a little bit more restaurant-like than a bar, but with a happy hour this good, who cares!?

A+ bartender for Prohibition.

Prohibition address: 125 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Savannah, GA 31401

Artillery

Artillery was the most posh-like bar we visited and I really enjoyed the look of it. It looks so elegant with it’s gold pillars out front and massive chandeliers.

Unfortunately, it was so dark inside I couldn’t really get a decent photo. They have photos on their website and their cocktail menu can be found here!

Artillery address: 4302, 307 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401

Enjoy Drinking in Savannah!

One of the coolest parts about some of the bars in Savannah is that they designed them with history in mind (The Grey and Artillery). I hope you enjoy these bars as much as I did – I especially loved Peregrin and The Fitzroy, if you can’t make it all five.

Let me know what your favorite Savannah bar is in the comments below! It doesn’t need to be on my list either 🙂

As always, I’m available for questions when planning your upcoming Savannah trip.
